With lockdown 2.0 just days away here in England I wanted to take a moment to talk about online hypnotherapy.
YES it does still work and it is just as effective.
But what are the differences and what do you need for a successful session?
To be honest the differences are so slight it is hardly worth mentioning them, the sense of calm and tranquility is still achieved as is the positive state of relaxation where you can achieve your goals. True I can’t meet you at the door, shake your hand and welcome you into the therapy room - but we can do that virtually. It is far more important to forge ahead with your hypnotherapy needs virtually than to wait until a future date when face to face will be feasible again.
Online hypnotherapy also means we are not restricted by physical distance, allowing me to support you wherever you are in the world.
I would recommend the following to ensure a successful online solution focused hypnotherapy session:
Whatever happens - don’t worry if there is an interruption - we can easily and effectively maintain a state of relaxation. However, your hypnotherapy sessions are about you so let’s do everything in our power to ensure they stay that way.
Find a space where you can genuinely relax and get away from the noise of others around you. If you live with children, pets etc this is really important as they can so easily interrupt... Put a note on the door, instruct housemates and partners to steer clear and generally ensure you have an hour dedicated to you.
Make sure you can find a comfortable place to sit or lie back and relax. Most people prefer to lie right back so a sofa or bed are ideal options.
Don’t forget to plug in your device. Running around the house looking for a cable mid-session tends to take the mind off whatever it is we have chosen to focus on.
Switch off other devices - you wouldn’t look at your phone in a face to face session so don’t do it when we are working together online. Although I recommend a laptop or tablet for the sessions due to the larger screen size, I do appreciate some people will use their phones. If so, try to switch off notifications - we don’t need to be interrupted halfway through by a stray message or alert.
